In other news… Funke Akindele has revealed she earned her first £1 million in 1999 for her role as ‘Bisi’ in TV series I Need to Know.

The actress shared in a video on

“I did it around 1999. I started my career in 1996 playing waka pass roles, went for auditions in 1997 and got a lot of rejections,” she said.

The actress further explained how her persistence paid off when she was finally cast in the TV series I Need to Know.

“Then I hit the big time on ‘I Need To Know’ and that’s how I got my first £1m.”

Talking about how she spent the money, Akindele revealed that the first person she informed was her mother who encouraged her to pay her tithes before spending any part.

“What did I do with one million naira? First, I showed it to my mother. Of course, she knew about it and then my mother suggested that I must pay the tithe first,”

“I paid my tithes, and then I entered Yaba because I had no shoes. I changed my wardrobe, my shoes, my bag, everything. The girl who didn’t have shoes yesterday has them today.”
