- The Anambra State Police Command has launched an investigation into a viral video showing a young boy allegedly inciting minors to join a cult.
- Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga described the act as criminal and offensive, adding that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, had directed specialized units to verify the video, ensure the safety of the victims and arrest all those involved.
- The command condemns all forms of child abuse and urges the public to report useful information while ensuring whistleblower confidentiality.

The Anambra State Police Command has reacted to a viral video showing a group of young boys allegedly performing a cult initiation ceremony involving minors.
Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga said a preliminary review of the video indicated that the incident may have occurred within a community in the state, calling the act “a criminal act but also a serious violation of public morals, safety and the protection of minors, who remain one of the most vulnerable groups in society.”
Ikenga added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, had ordered an immediate investigation, directing specialized personnel from the Anti-Cult Squad, Youth Welfare Unit and National Intelligence Unit to work together:
“Verify the authenticity and source of the video,”
“To identify the victim and ensure his safety and well-being,”
“Identify and arrest all individuals involved in or complicit in this conduct.”
The Communist Party condemns all forms of child abuse, brainwashing, harassment, psychological counseling or forced initiation, warning that “such behavior will not be tolerated in the state under any circumstances”.
He also urged anyone with credible information to report via the emergency number 112, 07039194332, or directly by calling PRO 08039334002, and ensured that “the identity of the whistleblower will be protected and all reports will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.”
