    • Edo State Governor Okpebholo became a hot topic on Monday after he arrived at the APC meeting in Ekiti State with his official hype man who is also his senior special assistant.
    • The hypebeast’s energetic chants at the event sparked laughter and criticism online.
    • While some Nigerians thought the display was funny, others found it embarrassing and unprofessional. Many see this as another example of the merging of politics and entertainment culture in Nigeria.

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo went viral after attending the APC meeting in Ekiti State with his senior special assistant who is also Edo State’s official hype man.

In the now-viral video, the hypebeast can be seen cheering and hyping up the governor’s entrance, drawing curious glances from attendees.

The moment sparked huge reactions online, with one user writing: “Only a Nigerian hypeman can get a government appointment. Hypeman out there shouting ‘Energy!'” while citizens shouted ‘Economy! ‘”

Another joked, “Bro says if I go to a meeting, so does my hype man, politics now has a background voice.”

However, some Nigerians expressed embarrassment at the display, saying it reflected poor governance. One comment read, “Shame on them on their behalf,” while another quipped, “This kind of hype will take money out of the hands of those club hypemen.”

Recently inaugurated Governor Okpeholo has maintained an active public profile and is often seen surrounded by aides and supporters shouting his praises
