The prophet who predicted the collapse of OPAY suddenly made a U-turn and issued a public apology to Nigerians

    • Prophet Aliyu Barnabas, who earlier predicted OPAY would collapse by the end of 2025, has publicly apologized to Nigerians and the company.
    • In a video that went viral, he said he meant no harm and was simply sharing what he believed God told him before retracting the prophecy and asking for forgiveness.
    • His apology, which included “let love guide,” prompted mixed reactions online.

Nigerian prophet Aliyu Barnabas, who earlier predicted that online banking company OPAY would collapse between October and December 2025, has publicly apologized to Nigerians and the company.

The prediction went viral, sparking outrage on social media. Many users called for legal action, while others urged him to apologize for spreading fear about functioning financial institutions.

In a new video, Prophet Barnabas pleads for forgiveness, saying he had no intention of harming anyone’s business.

“Because no, I did prophesy about OPAY and I had no intention of ruining anyone’s business. I’m sorry if I ruined anyone’s business by prophesying. I had no sole purpose for prophesying, that’s what God sent me to do. I’m sorry that that prophecy is withdrawn in the name of Jesus.”

He ended his message by saying, “Let love guide.”

However, his apology drew mixed reactions online.

King wrote: “Prediction or prophecy? If it had happened, he would have been called God’s anointed. This is how they deceive people in the name of prophecy.”

Israel Usolol said: “Why did you predict the failure of an important institution? Do you know the consequences of such a prediction?”

Omega XD commented: “The visions came from their own thoughts, not from the mouth of the Lord (Jeremiah 23:16).”

ObaSapy added: “Let love guide bawo! When did God send you to say woe to someone’s legitimate business? Ugh prophet, don’t you see corrupt public officials prophesying woe like the prophets in the Bible?”

“Why don’t people just focus on their phones and stop all this crap? Imagine how much he’s going to cost OPay? Anyway, if they choose to sue that’s his business,” Imo said.

Mubarak concluded: “Haha sir, OPay must sue you for making a fool of yourself and trying to tarnish their goodwill.”
