The speculation came a few years ago after the two collaborated on several love-themed songs in the 2010s, sparking dating rumors among fans.
During a recent appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, the 45-year-old singer clarified that she and MI were never in a relationship.
“Because of the romantic storyline in our song ‘One Naira’, a lot of people thought we were dating. But that’s not the case. We were just friends exploring the love story through music, creating characters and bringing the song to life,” she said.
Waje also revealed that it was MI’s girlfriend at the time who narrated the song, not her.
The singer added that she is currently single and has no interest in being with an unsuccessful partner, noting that she is no longer in her twenties and does not want to spend her time in the wrong relationship.
