Afrobeat star Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, recently shared the story behind his collaboration with rock icon Mick Jagger on the single Empty Chairs.
The Grammy-winning artist revealed that supermodel Naomi Campbell played a key role in bringing the two stars together. Speaking on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Burna Boy explained: “It’s actually crazy because Naomi Campbell is the one who made it happen. The next thing I know, I’m talking to Mick Jagger and it feels like we’ve known each other forever.”
Bernard Boy described the experience as surreal, saying that despite coming from a different musical background, working with Jagger felt surprisingly natural.
Their co-written “Empty Chairs” appears on Burna Boy’s latest album, No Sign of Weakness, and is known for fusing Afrobeats with classic rock, further cementing Burna Boy’s status as a global musical force.
