Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels has opened up about her marriage to Senator Ned Nwoko, revealing that her mother kept her in marriage for seven years.
Regina shared a heartfelt post on her Instagram page on Wednesday morning, clearing up some misconceptions surrounding her marriage, specifically claims that she was forced into marriage at a young age.
According to the actress, her family and mother were initially opposed to her decision to marry Ned.
Regina recently accused the 64-year-old congressman of domestic violence and expressed deep regret for falling in love with him.
She also begged Nigerians to stop attacking her mother online, insisting her marriage was not motivated by greed as widely speculated.
She said, “For seven years, my mom kept me down. She tried, but I was the one with the coconut head.
“I’m ashamed to say I was in love, but I was, and it’s crazy. Everyone said no. You all should stop saying I got married out of greed. We’re not broke.
“How much money can a man give to a mother whose children bear almost everything in the house? I am her only source of livelihood.
“My mother, my brother, everyone warned me. One night I was out driving and I was going to kill myself if I didn’t marry Ned.”
