- A man is attracting attention online after denying marriage during an Afropunk festival in Brazil.
- The incident occurred when Nigerian singer Temus interacted with him on stage.
- Temes expressed concern about disrespecting the man’s wife while serenading him.

A man went viral after reportedly refusing his wife to come on stage at an Afropunk festival in Brazil over the weekend just so she could share a moment with Nigerian singer Temus.
In a viral video of the event, Temes can be heard telling the man she didn’t want to disrespect his wife by serenading him. However, the man quickly denied being married, even though the woman believed to be his wife was standing right behind him.
"I know your wife is here and I need to respect her," Tems said.
Despite her concerns, the man went on to kiss the singer’s hand after claiming he was not married, prompting loud cheers and screams from the audience.
The scene has reignited the debate over Afrobeat artists serenading fans’ partners during their performances.
It is worth noting that in February 2024, singer Omah Lay caused controversy when he invited a female fan who was reportedly on stage with her boyfriend to watch his concert at London’s Eventim Apollo while performing his hit song “Bend You”.
A video showing the pair’s silhouettes caused an uproar online, and reports later emerged that the pair had broken up following the incident.
