    • Basketmouth commented on the spat between social media critic VeryDarkMan and comedian Mr Jollof.
    • The incident occurred on November 17, 2025, on a United Nigeria Airlines flight.
    • The two were detained by the Delta State Police Command after a physical altercation.

Popular Nigerian comedian Basketmouth has shared his thoughts on the recent conflict between social media critic VeryDarkMan and comedian Mr. Jollof.

DAILY POST reports that two men were detained by the Delta State Police Command after a physical altercation aboard a United Nigeria Airlines flight on Monday, November 17, 2025.

Basketmouth called the incident in a video posted on his Instagram “Awkward,” he said, looking back on his long-standing rivalry with comedian AY Makun: “We never got to the point where we were punching each other.”

In an effort to encourage harmony and understanding between people, Basketmouth questions how conflicts can escalate to such extremes. He said: “I watched the video of Mr. Jollof and VDM fighting in a public place inside an airplane. Even with limited space, these grown men fought. I asked myself, how did we get here? AY and I have had conflicts for a long time, but never to the point of a fight. How embarrassing is this? Why can’t we live in peace? “

The relationship between the two became strained after VeryDarkMan accused Mr Jollof’s wife of associating with politicians and Yahoo boys to help her husband gain political office in Delta State. Following the allegations, the couple filed a N500 million defamation suit against VeryDarkMan.
