    • His death prompted widespread condolences in Enugu State.
    • Eziah is the last Labor representative from Enugu in the National Assembly.

Enugu North Senatorial District Senator Oki Eziah has died after receiving treatment in the United Kingdom.

His death plunged Enugu State into mourning as he was the last Labor representative in the state’s National Assembly.

The late senator was a respected figure in Nsukka who won his seat on the Labor ticket during the 2023 general election.

Well-known media personality Chijinkem Ugwuanyi confirmed the news of his death on Tuesday and shared the information on Facebook. Ugwuanyi wrote: “Sad news. Senator Oki Eziah representing Enugu North has passed away…RIP.”

The news sparked widespread reactions online, with many expressing shock and sadness at his sudden death.

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who led the memorial service, described Ezea not only as a colleague but also a close friend. Kalu said he was “deeply shocked and deeply saddened” when he received the news, noting that their relationship extends beyond the Senate.

He emphasized the spiritual connection they shared through the Catholic faith, writing, “Those quiet moments of prayer and spiritual communion are still etched in my heart.”

Kalu also stressed that the Senate had lost a “principled voice” and expressed his condolences to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

He further expressed his sympathy to Enugu State Governor Peter Mba and the people of Enugu, especially Nsukka community, while commending the late senator for his dedication to public service and commitment to improving the lives of his constituents.

Kalu concluded by praying for the family, describing Senator Eziah as “a noble man whose legacy of service and faith will continue to shine brightly.”
