Nigerian comedian and social commentator Debo Adebayo has criticized President Bola Tinubu over a rising wave of terrorism and mass kidnappings in Nigeria.
In a post on his X account on Friday, Maccaroni denounced the president’s approach to national security, pointing to the continued kidnapping of schoolchildren as evidence of “incompetence.”
He wrote: “President Tinubu, you claim to have all the solutions to end terrorism. You say any president who fails to protect his people is incompetent. Every schoolchild kidnapped is a result of your failure. The blood of Nigerians who have lost their lives to acts of terrorism is on your hands.”
He made the remarks following an attack in Niger State in which terrorists abducted students and staff of St. Mary’s School, a Catholic institution in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area.
The total number of people abducted has not yet been confirmed because the school was still finalizing its records at the time of the report.
The Catholic Diocese of Kotangola in Niger State acknowledged the incident in an official statement. The Niger State Police Command could not be reached and spokesman SP Wasiu Abiodun was unavailable for comment.
The incident occurred days after terrorists attacked a public school in Kebbi State and kidnapped at least 25 students.
