    • A Nigerian soldier has expressed dismay at the ongoing insecurity in the country.
    • He believed the suffering caused by insecurity was unnecessary and called for stronger action against banditry.
    • The soldier highlighted the emotional toll taken on frontline troops due to frequent attacks, abductions and community displacement.

A Nigerian soldier has expressed strong frustration over what he sees as the needless suffering caused by persistent insecurity in the country, urging authorities to empower troops to decisively combat bandits.

He emotionally explained that many frontline soldiers are exhausted by the constant attacks, abductions and displacement. Despite the challenges, he maintained that the Nigerian military, if fully empowered, is capable of neutralizing threats.

According to him, the armed forces already have the training, manpower and professional units needed to regain control of the affected areas.

“If given the order, we can end terrorism within 24 hours,” he said in Hausa, adding that with the right equipment and clear instructions, troops could enter the forest and disrupt criminal gangs hiding there.

To reinforce his point, he appealed: “Just giving us 24 hours is enough,” echoing the confidence shared by many in the capabilities of the military.

The soldier criticized an increase in kidnappings and attacks on schools, with communities still gripped by fear despite the presence of elite troops trained for high-risk operations. His comments raised concerns about why these resources are not being fully deployed.

He concluded with a passionate statement: “I don’t wear this uniform to show off or to intimidate anyone. I wear it to defend my country from harm.”

Nigerian soldiers shouted: “We can end terrorism within 24 hours as long as we are ordered to do so.

A brave Nigerian soldier has finally broken his silence and revealed the painful truth about why terrorism and banditry continue to ravage the country. With a deep sense of frustration,… pic.twitter.com/5NzUZZYnBi
