World-famous footballer Cristiano Ronaldo and his fiancée Georgina Rodriguez are reportedly set to have a Christian wedding in his hometown of Madeira next summer after the 2026 World Cup.
The couple will tie the knot at Funchal Cathedral and host a reception at a luxury hotel, the Madeira daily reported. The celebrity couple announced their engagement in August after more than nine years together.
A “Not-So-Romantic” Proposal
Ronaldo, 40, opens up to Piers Morgan about his impromptu proposal, which was surprisingly made by his daughters:
‘It was about 1am. My daughters are sleeping in bed,” he told Piers Morgan.
“A friend of mine gave me the ring to propose to Gio (Georgina) and when I gave it to her, my two kids came in and said, ‘Dad, you’re going to give the ring to Mum, you’re going to propose to her.'”
Ronaldo explained that an impromptu moment sealed the deal:
“I said, ‘Wow, now is the perfect time to say yes.’ It’s time.” I knew I would do it one day, but I had no plans to do it at the time. “
“I didn’t (kneel) because I wasn’t ready, but it was a beautiful moment. I gave the speech.
He concluded by admitting that the style of his proposal was simple:
“I’m not a very romantic person. Well, I am, but I’m not very romantic, not the kind of person who sends flowers to my house every week. But I’m romantic in my way.
