The Edo State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a man identified as Timothy Gilbert, who has been accused of seriously assaulting his 40-year-old partner, Angela Ogah, in Benin City.
The incident occurred at Ihovbe Quarters in the Ikpoba Mountain area. Gilbert allegedly threw a harmful substance at Oga during an argument and then fled the scene.
Command spokesman CSP Moses Yamu confirmed that the search for Gilbert was ongoing and appealed to the public to come forward with credible information. Yamu noted that the couple had repeatedly argued over accusations of infidelity, which escalated into confrontations before the attack.
Oga is currently receiving treatment at a private medical facility. She is reportedly in critical condition but remains under close surveillance. Her lawyers have submitted a formal petition to the Edo State Commissioner of Police demanding the urgent arrest of the suspect.
Authorities warned the public not to resort to domestic violence and advised individuals facing relationship challenges to seek peaceful solutions. Police assured residents that the manhunt for Gilbert was ongoing.
