    • A Nigerian woman identified as @ericao291 on TikTok has sparked widespread reactions on social media after sharing photos from her traditional wedding.
    • While many offered congratulations, the post sparked controversy, with some users criticizing the apparent age difference between the bride and groom, claiming she was marrying an “older man.”
    • The bride responded directly to the criticism, defending her choice, claiming she and her husband were “compatible” and asking critics to offer congratulations rather than insults.

A wedding photo shared by a Nigerian woman on TikTok (@ericao291) has sparked a huge reaction on social media after showing off her recent traditional wedding.

The bride posted these photos to celebrate the union, captioning the post with a message of commitment:

“Always start today, have and hold… Today I married my best friend… the old fashioned way.”

Despite receiving numerous congratulatory messages, the post quickly became controversial. Some social media users commented on the apparent age difference, suggesting the bride was married to a much older man.

The bride, whose name is Erica, then addressed her critics directly in a follow-up post, defending her choices and happiness:

“My eyes look like I’m 30? I’m married to an older man that TikTokers hate. Congratulations are enough. Please, no insults, I made my choice and we are compatible.”

See some of the reactions below:

@Nini said: “This lady is not a little girl, what’s your problem?”

@Assurance Boo said: “This little boy hasn’t completed what we need to do to marry his dad… Congratulations.”

@Don popula said: “Una start over. I won’t be heard in my house that I am the queen but in the chief house I am not alone.”

@star said: “I love it when mature people marry each other. Your marriage will give you everything you want, amen.”

@D~MSE said: “Can’t you all see that they got married for companionship??? She is an older lady and older men need love and care too and they decided to do it. They are happy together and that’s what matters! Congratulations Mom, your family is happy. You and Abeig look great together.”
