    • Timmer underwent in vitro fertilization while being treated for thyroid disease.

Real Housewives of Lagos lead actress Maryam Adeyemi Timmer has shared insights into the personal challenges she went through while filming the reality show.

In a recent interview, she discussed the physical and emotional toll that undergoing IVF treatments while dealing with her thyroid disease had on her. She explained that these health issues arose during her fertility journey and affected her emotions throughout filming.

Mariam revealed that many viewers didn’t realize that her on-screen reactions were influenced by her experiences behind the scenes. She also described her frustration and confusion after discovering her thyroid problem, especially since she was already dealing with fibroids and trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

According to her, juggling these health issues made that period extremely difficult.

Before making her reality TV debut, Mariam studied political science, pursued a career in public relations, and embraced motherhood. She’s been with the show since season one and has been around since episode four, stressing that she just wants to keep it real in front of the camera.

In another discussion, Mariam highlighted the stress women often face when facing fertility and health challenges. She explained that she decided to speak out because many women, despite going through similar struggles, remain silent due to social or cultural expectations.

She added that while she still wants to expand her family, she no longer feels the need to put pressure on herself.
