Nigerian musician Peter Okoye has responded to reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has denied involvement in the $800,000 lawsuit he filed against his brother Jude Okoye.
According to Punch, an EFCC spokesperson reportedly told the court that the agency had no evidence linking Jude to the fraud charges related to the case.
A user on X added Peter to the news story and asked if he was up to date on the latest developments. In his response, Peter dismissed the report as “propaganda” and a “joke.”
He responded further on his Instagram Story, insisting the claims were completely false. Peter said the court meeting in question never happened and described the entire situation as an attempt to tarnish his reputation. He added that social media should not be treated as a judge.
The singer also posed a rhetorical question in pidgin English, accompanied by a tag: “Una thief abi una no thief?”
The Okoye brothers Peter, Paul and Jude feuded for years after the band broke up. Peter had previously taken legal action against Jude, making multiple accusations in the process.
