    • A Nigerian woman has gone viral after kneeling down to accept a marriage proposal from her partner, with whom she was in a nine-year relationship with whom she has three children.
    • The woman revealed that the long wait included “tests” such as cooking for her mother-in-law and cleaning the market square.
    • She also admitted to buying herself a temporary ring earlier, explaining that she had to take it off when her man finally decided to propose.

A Nigerian woman got down on one knee to accept her partner’s engagement ring to celebrate the culmination of a nine-year relationship that has resulted in the birth of three children, a move that caught the attention of netizens.

The woman shared her experience on TikTok, noting that the long road to the proposal included unusual “ordeals” such as cooking for her mother-in-law and spending months cleaning the market square. She also mentioned that she lived with her mother-in-law for several months but was not allowed to live with her partner.

She revealed a gesture she made while waiting for a formal proposal:

“After I gave birth to my first child, I bought myself a ring and I had to look like a married woman. When he wanted to propose, I had to take that ring off,” she said.

The viral video sparked mixed reactions online, with some users questioning the veracity of the story:

@Ro_sey commented: “This is definitely anger bait. This can’t be true 😭😭”.

Other users focused on the humor, with @Eve writing, “You made me laugh so hard 😂.”
