Nigerian comedian-turned-singer Nasboy has revealed that if he was given another chance, he would choose wealth over fame.
The entertainer shared this while discussing his retirement plans on Sunday. In a post on X, he expressed regret for prioritizing popularity over financial stability and promised that he would not repeat this decision in his next life.
Nasboy also hinted at quitting showbiz, noting that the constant stress and pressure of fame prompted him to want to leave the industry.
“I would choose money over fame. I won’t try anything like this again in my next life.”
“Once I hit 5 billion, I won’t get off the boat. I won’t do it again. No skits, no music, no acting. Give the brain a rest”, he said.
In other news… Nigerian on-air personality Tolu Oniru-Demuren, popularly known as Toolz, took to her X handle (formerly Twitter) to rebuke a man who publicly mocked Jennifer, the widow of late actor Jnr Pope, for “moving on” less than a year after her husband’s death.
The controversy began on Sunday, December 7, when a video surfaced online showing Jennifer dressed up and out for an event with actress Mercy Johnson.
X user Obiasogu David (@afrisagacity) commented on the video, suggesting that Jennifer was “playing haphazardly with her iPhone 17 Pro Max, looking like she’s moved on to a new life, less than a year after losing her husband and shouldering the burden of raising three boys.” He then issued a general warning: “Dear men, do everything you can not to grow younger, especially after a wedding”.
Toolz spotted the comment and strongly rebuked the user, pointing out the unrealistic expectations placed on widows:
“‘Less than a year’ is actually 20 months. Should she lock herself away and mourn forever? It’s not uncommon in this country for a man to marry another wife within a year.”
Toolz’s rebuttal highlighted gender differences in mourning expectations and was quickly supported by others online.
