    • Remi Tinubu sparked public controversy when he publicly interrupted Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke during his inauguration ceremony in Ile-Ife.
    • A widely circulated video showed the first lady taking to the stage and warning the governor to stop singing and end his speech or she would turn off his microphone.
    • This public act was immediately criticized on social media for openly threatening the sitting governor.

Nigeria’s First Lady Remi Tinubu caused a stir when she publicly interrupted Governor Ademola Adeleke at a public event in Osun State and threatened to switch off his microphone because he sang during his speech.

The incident occurred on Sunday, December 7, 2025, in Ile-Ife when the Ooni of Ife inaugurated the First Lady, Yeye Asiju Gbogbo Ile Oodua.

A widely circulated video captured the moment Governor Adeleke, known for his singing and dancing, interrupted his official address to sing a worship song. The first lady then took to the podium to deliver a stern warning to him.

    Someone saw her and said:

“I’ll give you five minutes to finish your speech, with enough music, or I’ll turn off the microphone.”

The development quickly sparked controversy on social media, with many users questioning her public conduct toward the now-governor.

    Comments include:

“This is unacceptable public behavior. There are better ways to communicate time limits than threatening to cut off the governor’s microphone,” U_y_a_i wrote.

She said, “I’ll give you five more minutes to finish your speech. The music is enough, that’s not what I’m asking you to do.” But Mann continued singing.
She immediately came back and said: “I turned off the microphone and stopped the music.” 💔 https://t.co/ZToCArtOMT

In other news… A Nigerian man has taken to social media to share his anguish after strangers reportedly came to his home claiming his wife had used the property as collateral for a bank loan without his knowledge.

A video of the incident that went viral showed the man shocked when bank representatives attempted to seize the house, claiming his wife was in default on a loan related to the property.

In the video, some of the man’s belongings can be seen outside as he films the chaos taking place. He questioned how his wife accessed his personal documents and obtained a loan without his consent.

The man insisted he had not signed or approved any documents related to the loan and expressed doubts about the situation. Furious, he vowed to confront his wife in the workplace, publicly expose her behavior, and accuse her of betraying his trust and embarrassing him.

He also suggested that the situation may have been a deliberate attempt to drive him out of the home.

The video sparked widespread reactions online, with many users expressing shock that the loan had been obtained without their husband’s knowledge.
