Rita Daniels, mother of actress Regina Daniels, has resurfaced on social media days after reports emerged that she had lost the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) presidential election.
On Tuesday, December 9, Rita posted a video on her official Instagram page showing off her charity work. In the video, she can be seen handing out what looks like food to the children from the trunk of her car. She also expressed her gratitude to God, writing:
“God, thank you for all you do. May your name be praised. Hallelujah!”
There are reports that Rita lost the AGN presidential election held on Saturday, December 6, during the annual general meeting of the association in Benin, Edo State. The winner was AGN National Secretary Abubakar Yakubu with 116 votes and Rita with 113 votes, three of which were declared invalid.
Yakubu’s victory was historic as he became the first northern Nigerian actor to lead the association since its inception in the 1990s.
Rita reportedly lost the election after former AGN president Emeka Rollas recently made comments that Regina Daniels needed her mother’s support and urged Rita to focus on her daughter’s well-being rather than contesting the election.
Here are the social media posts from Rita Daniels breaking her silence:
