    • In a tragedy that struck Nasarawa State, bride-to-be Hajara Umar Lamus died in a fatal car accident on her way from Lafia to Wamba, just a week away from her scheduled wedding.
    • Her death left her family, friends and fiancé in mourning and sparked widespread tributes on social media.

A dark cloud has fallen over Wamba and Lafia in Nasarawa State after the death of young bride-to-be Hajara Umar Lamus in a fatal car accident a week before her wedding.

The incident occurred on Saturday, December 20, 2025, when Hajara was traveling from Lafia to Wamba.

Hajara is a student at the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Wamba (COHSTEW). According to her wedding invitation, she is scheduled to tie the knot with her fiancé Mahi Murtala Maigoro on Saturday, December 27, 2025.

What was supposed to be a week of final preparations and celebrations turned into a profound mourning for her family, friends and groom-to-be.

As news of her death spread, social media was flooded with tributes. Many expressed shock at the suddenness of the tragedy, calling it a sobering reminder of the fragility of life.

One friend, Muhammad Sani, shared his grief online:

“Innalillahi Wa’inna Ilaihi Rajioon, I swear this life is terrible, it has no certainties. May Allah fill us with faith. May Almighty Allah forgive and have mercy on your soul, may your soul rest in peace in Jannatul’firdous, Hajara Umar Lamus!”

In other news… Controversial rapper Speed Darlington has sparked a new debate over gender roles after advising men to ensure they are financially superior to their partners.

The rapper said on the latest episode of The Honest Bunch podcast that women’s financial independence inevitably leads to a lack of submission.

Darlington claimed that even if a wealthy woman appeared to be submissive, it was often just a facade to secure marriage.

“You can’t tell me that a woman worth millions would give in to her husband. I don’t believe it. Power doesn’t like to give in… There’s no way she will give in. She can say she’s married, but deep down, she will never give in.” he asserted.

He urges men to prioritize their financial advantages to avoid “provocative” behavior and family conflict, suggesting that the female-dominated wealth gap is a recipe for disaster.

“If your woman makes more money than you as a man, there’s going to be a problem. That’s going to be a problem. As a man, do everything you can to not let your woman be richer than you are. If she does, she will become aggressive and will never be submissive.” he claimed.

The rapper ended up saying he preferred “support” women over “independent” Some claim that wealthy women naturally seek to compete with their husbands rather than help them.
