I’m running for President, not Vice President, in the 2027 presidential election

Labor Party (LP) 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi has confirmed that he will run again during the 2027 elections.

The former governor of Anambra State also insisted that he will not be anyone’s running mate while speaking on X Space on Sunday night.

According to Obi, he didn’t gain all the experience and just ended up becoming vice president.

“I’m not going to travel around the world to learn governance just to be vice president,” Obi said.

“I know how to turn Nigeria around. I built my business from scratch and have more experience than any candidate, including the current president.

“Peter Obi will be on the ballot in 2027. I need your support. I need your prayers.”

Former Labor presidential candidate Peter Obi has also dismissed suggestions that he is a newcomer to the African Democratic Party (ADC), insisting he is a genuine member of the alliance.

According to him, he has been an integral part of the ADC since its inception, contrary to claims by critics who have questioned his membership and role within the party.

The former Anambra State governor said he has been an active supporter of the party over the years, citing his public campaigning and support for Dr Mo’s candidacy for the chairmanship of the Abuja Municipal Area Commission (AMAC) in the Federal Capital Territory.

Obi further stated that his involvement in the ADC-led coalition was not driven by personal ambition or pursuit of power but by a commitment to ensuring that Nigeria works for all its citizens. ]

“I am not in this alliance to seize power. I am here because I want to make Nigeria work,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to focus on building a credible political alternative based on competence, responsibility and service rather than be distracted by misinformation and partisan attacks.
