The Nigerian social media community is in deep mourning following the death of popular influencer and author Anderson Damisa, popularly known as LazyWrita.

News of his death came in a chilling post on his Instagram page, in which he made it clear that he intended to end his life, citing mental exhaustion and a lack of energy to continue living.

In the lengthy and emotional post, Anderson addressed his loved ones and followers, asking them not to grieve but to celebrate his adventurous life. He revealed that he had deleted his other social media accounts except for his last message to prevent “false narratives”.

“Please don’t cry for me…I’ve lived a full and adventurous life…I just don’t have the energy to go on. Now, I’m happy, unburdened, and free!!! My only regret is not watching the new Stranger Things and not marrying LOML when I had the chance…Please don’t cry and don’t take any responsibility for whatever we’ve been through.”

Anderson expressed his deep love for his family and ex-partner in his final moments. He encourages his “love of his life” (LOML) to move on and find happiness.

“On my happiest and saddest days, you are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I want you to live, love, laugh, have kids, and be happy! … I love you Nene, Mary, Israel, Wadi, Roy, and I will choose you to be my family over and over again. You make this life’s journey so much better.”

The post sent shockwaves through Nigeria’s digital landscape. Influencers, colleagues and fans flooded his comments section, with many expressing regret at not being able to reach him sooner.
