    • Nollywood actor and filmmaker Jamiu Aziz is facing online criticism for his alleged conversion from Islam to Christianity.
    • The controversy was sparked by a viral video showing him attending a church service wearing white clothing.
    • Aziz publicly responded to the backlash surrounding the situation.

Nollywood actor and film producer Jamiu Azeez has responded to criticism online over reports of his conversion from Islam to Christianity.

According to Naija News, the controversy started after a video of him attending a church service wearing white clothing went viral.

The video prompted some members of the Muslim community to question his faith, with some even suggesting he should change his name.

The post prompted widespread reactions on social media from supporters and critics alike.

Jamiu addressed the situation on his social media platforms on Sunday, January 4.

He shared some of the messages and comments he received, highlighting the intensity of the public response.

Jamiou stressed that his personal choices should not be subject to public scrutiny, noting that he had never formally declared a religious change.

He described his faith as a private matter and said it should not be a subject of judgment.

He also humorously said that he could wear traditional spiritual clothing if he wanted to, which eased the controversial atmosphere.

He wrote on Instagram Stories: “Only in Nigeria do people care so much about other people’s lives. Imagine telling a man in his 40s how to live his life. I posted a picture of myself in white on crossover night and the comments I read on blogs, especially on Facebook, were crazy. Some people even came to my DMs to drag me… I can choose to follow any religion and it shouldn’t be anyone’s problem. I never even came out and said I had converted.”
