Türkiye Scholarships are offered by the Presidency of Turks and Allied Communities Abroad (YTB), government-funded projects covering undergraduate and postgraduate researchers. In addition to providing cash aid to students, it also provides research opportunities to applicants.
Türkiye Scholarships provide full funding for studies at bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral or research level at any Turkish university. The program not only provides funding to selected applicants but also covers the university preparation and placement process. The Türkiye Scholarship is a government-funded competitive scholarship program awarded to outstanding students studying full-time or short-term courses at top universities in Türkiye. Applications will be open to applicants wishing to study for bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.
Türkiye Scholarship Application Instructions for International Students
- Complete the online form and upload all required documents (scanned copies). Candidates do not need to have their documents translated. It would also be beneficial for candidates to include their extracurricular activities and achievements in different fields.
Select your potential host universities (in order of preference). Please note the requirements for each program; - Write an original letter of intent explaining your preferences, expectations and future goals;
- After reviewing all stages and documents, submit the application.
Required documents
- Valid national identity document or valid passport;
- A recent photo of the candidate;
- National unified examination results (if any);
- Diploma or provisional diploma;
- International test scores (such as GRE, GMAT, SAT, etc.) (if required by the selected university or program);
- International language test scores, such as TOEFL, DELF (if required by the selected university or program);
- Research proposal and examples of written work (for PhD applications only).

Important details to note
Many courses at Turkish universities are taught in Turkish. However, some departments and universities may offer courses in English and other languages. Candidates wishing to study such courses must be able to provide an internationally recognized certificate of language proficiency. (TOEFL or other equivalent certificate, if officially declared acceptable by the university). Most of these programs require international admission test scores (GRE, GMAT, SAT, etc.). Candidates can check the language of instruction when selecting their major in the application system.
Undergraduate students with international qualifications such as SAT or GCSE rather than national examination results are required to provide the minimum qualifications required to complete secondary education based on these international examinations.
All Turkish scholarship recipients who do not possess a C1 level certificate of Turkish language proficiency (including students entering courses taught in English or other languages) must attend a 1-year Turkish language course and obtain a C1 level certificate at the end of the academic year.
Students who are eligible for Türkiye Scholarships for International Students
Minimum academic standards:
• Minimum academic score for bachelor’s degree applicants: 70%
• Minimum academic score for Masters and PhD applicants: 75%
• Minimum academic score for Health Sciences (Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy) applicants: 90%
Age standard:
• Be under 21 years of age at the time of undergraduate study
• Age limit is 30 years old for master’s degree program
• Candidates studying for a doctoral degree should not be older than 35 years old
• Be under 45 years old when applying for a research scholarship
Eligible groups:
• Citizens of all countries
• Applicants who are graduates or able to graduate by the end of this academic year (before August 2023)
• Researchers and academicians
Scholarship Value and Content:
The scholarship includes university and project placement, monthly stipend (Bachelor: TL 1,000 per month; Master: TL 1,400 per month; PhD: TL 1,800 per month), tuition fees, one-time return air ticket, health insurance, accommodation and a one-year Turkish language course.
The normal reward period is:
• Undergraduate: 1 year Turkish language course + 4-6 years (depending on the normal duration of the course)
• Master: 1 year Turkish language course + 2 years
• PhD: 1 year Turkish language course + 4 years

- Undergraduate students $250/month
- Master’s students $360 per month
- For Ph.D. $500 per month for students

Türkiye scholarship students can live in public university dormitories without paying any fees. Students who do not wish to live in these residence halls may use other accommodation options at their own expense.
Tuition and Fees
Türkiye scholarship students do not have to pay any tuition or university fees.

Turkish courses
Türkiye Scholarship students without proof of knowledge of Turkish language will take a one-year Turkish language course. Türkiye Scholarship students studying in a language other than Turkish are also required to take Turkish language courses.

Türkiye scholarship students will receive a certain amount of funds to cover transportation costs upon first arrival in Türkiye and departure from Turkey after graduation.

Application deadline
Candidates can only apply individually through www.turkiyeburslari.gov.tr. No institution or individual is authorized to apply for Türkiye scholarships. Applicants applying for bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees are welcome January 10 to February 20, 2023. Research applicants may apply throughout the year.
