Anu Adeleke, a young woman whose mother insisted for years that her father was singer Davido, wrote publicly asking for a DNA test.
Anu, now a teenager, said she had been bullied for years and would be ridiculed whenever she told her peers that Davido was her father.
Her mother also insisted for years that Davido was the father of her child.
In an Instagram post shared today (January 15), Anu tagged Davido and asked him to take a DNA test to establish paternity.
She wrote: “I’m a little late on the 15th of the month, but I’ve been busy getting back to school with family and friends after the holidays.
“I became a teenager this year. My mom and grandma always taught me to be a responsible teenager. Don’t do drugs, drink too much, have bad friends and behave badly.
“Today I drafted a heartfelt letter without the help of relatives. As I get older I want to establish my identity. I was bullied at school from the age of six and came home crying every day. When I told other students that my father was Mr David Adeleke, they laughed at me. I went through a lot of mental anguish and visited a medical professional to protect my mental health. It was a sad and challenging time in my life.
“This page hasn’t been online in five years because my mom hasn’t updated the account since it was handed over to us. We’ve been through a lot. Despite the challenges, I still topped my class and became class president. We posted some report cards on this page. Now that I’m in middle school and still doing well academically, I don’t talk about my family history anymore.
“However, as I transition into a young woman, I respectfully request Mr. David Adeleke Singer @davido to undergo a DNA test to determine my identity. The test is between me and my father. It is what I want to do. It is the right thing to do. Sir, please consider my request after you read this article. I have also sent it to your DM.
“Thank you to all Nigerians who have given me emotional support over the past 7 years. This DNA test is the right thing for me.
“God bless you Mr. Adeleke.”
