    • Online discussions on musical heritage compare Fela Kuti and Wizkid.
    • Tensions arose when Seun Kuti criticized Wizkid’s fan base, Wizkid FC.
    • Seun’s criticism focused on fans citing Fela Kuti in music debates.

What started out as an online discussion about musical legacy and comparisons between late Afrobeat legends Fela Kuti and Ayo Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has escalated into a public feud between Wizkid and Fela’s son Seun Kuti.

According to GistLover, tensions first arose in early January when Seun criticized Wizkid’s fan base, Wizkid FC, for repeatedly mentioning his late father in a music debate.

Things got even more heated on Tuesday, January 21, when Wizkid responded passionately on his Instagram Stories, defending his fans and taking a dig at Seun.

Seun fired back on Instagram, referencing American rapper Diddy and teasing the Nigerian singer, writing: “Free Didi. His Lagos babies miss him.”

Wizkid couldn’t hold it back and responded shamelessly: “We all know who Naija’s bragging baby is. If you want the chain, come and get it. Let me go, I have a bad mouth.”

Online influencer Tunde Ednut reacted to the back-and-forth, sharing screenshots of the exchange and posting an old video of Grammy winner Burna Boy showing Seun Kuti a jewelry chain, adding context to the ongoing drama.
