Nollywood film producer and actor Stanley Amandi has reportedly been arrested over an alleged coup plot involving Nigerian military officers.
Amandi, a director and former chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (Enugu State Chapter), was reportedly detained in September 2025, but details of his alleged role were only recently made public.
Sources cited in the report said he was recruited as a propagandist by the alleged plotters as part of a broader plan that investigators believe was aimed at illegally overthrowing the government of President Bola Tinubu.
Defense Headquarters confirmed that the investigation into the alleged plot had been concluded and said the officers involved would face a military justice panel. The military said the conduct under review violated the ethical and professional standards of the armed forces.
Civilians linked to the case, including Amandi, are expected to be tried in civilian courts, while military personnel will be the first to be court-martialed as authorities move forward with the case.
