    • Pastor Enoch Adeboye has said he refused the personal use of three Mercedes Benz cars presented to him one day, noting that he sacrificed a lucrative career to respond to God’s call and did not enter the ministry for money.
    Pastor Adeboye responds to critics

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has spoken of the sacrifices he made after responding to the call to ministry, refuting claims that pastors do church work for financial gain.

Pastor Adeboye disclosed at a church event that he was once given three Mercedes Benz cars in one day but he did not use them. He said moments like this remind him of the career and opportunities he left behind to become a priest.

Responding to criticism that pastors are money-motivated, the cleric said he hoped God would forgive those who hold such views, stressing that he was fully aware that he had abandoned a career path of serving in the ministry.

According to him, becoming a priest is a deliberate choice rooted in obedience to God rather than the pursuit of wealth.

In other news… A Catholic priest suddenly collapsed and died during Sunday Mass in Austria.

The tragic incident occurred on Sunday, February 1, in Wismars in Wiener Neustadt. Pastor Raimund Beisteiner is 59 years old.

According to a statement from the Archdiocese of Vienna, Bestyner collapsed shortly after administering Holy Communion. As he was returning his master to the tabernacle, he suddenly fell down in front of the congregation.

Despite immediate professional medical attention, the priest died inside the church.

The mayor of Wismars, Erich Rasner, attended Mass with many believers and witnessed the incident. He later expressed his deep shock at the loss.

Bestana has served the diocese for nearly 20 years and is widely respected in the community and beyond. Lassner described him as an “extremely serious and sensitive pastor” and spoke of the personal loss of a long-standing friendship.

After his death, a prayer service was quickly organized for him. The ceremony was attended by several priests from the diocese as well as Archbishop Josef Grünwidl.
