    • Rotimi Amaechi says Nigerians are better off under the Buhari administration than the current administration.
    • He stated this while addressing youths during the Occupy National Assembly protest in Abuja.

Former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi has said Nigerians enjoyed better living conditions during the administration of late President Muhammadu Buhari than under the current administration.

Armanechi made the remarks during an ongoing protest on electoral reforms at the National Assembly in Abuja, tagged “Occupy the National Assembly”. The protests have attracted large numbers of young Nigerians, demanding credible elections and greater democratic accountability.

Tiandi said living standards have deteriorated significantly under the current government. He questioned whether Nigerians’ lives were easier now than when he was a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and insisted conditions were better during Buhari’s tenure, even as the removal of fuel subsidies was considered.

“Is life easier now than when I was in APC? Life is worse now than under former President Buhari, even though we planned to remove subsidies,“he said.

Tianchi explained that his motivation for participating in the protest was to demand the real-time electronic transmission of election results, a proposal that sparked public outrage after the Senate rejected it in the ongoing electoral reform process.

In other news… Friends, family and fans gathered at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja to mourn the untimely death of young singer Ifunanya Nwangene popularly known as Nanyah. On January 31, 2026, the 26-year-old woman died after being bitten by a snake at her residence.

A man who attended the memorial, identified as @paulfortune1 on TikTok, shared a video capturing an emotional moment from the memorial. He described the gathering as a powerful reminder of the unpredictability of life, writing in the post:

“Today is a sad time as friends and family gather to say goodbye to @Nanyah. A reminder that life can happen, so make the most of every opportunity you have. Love, live and grow.”

The video quickly went viral, with viewers sharing their thoughts and appreciating the heartfelt tributes. Nanya’s sudden death has left a deep void in the music industry and her fans.
