Charly Boy urges Nigerians to focus on election integrity ahead of 2027

Veteran Nigerian entertainer and social activist, Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, popularly known as “Charlie Boy” or “Zone Fada” has finally opened up on the ongoing speculation surrounding his sexual orientation.

The maverick performer, known for his unconventional lifestyle and bold self-expression, said he has always lived his life transparently and unconcerned with public opinion or criticism.

In an interview with KAATRUTH, Charlie Boy described himself as someone who had nothing to hide, stressing that he had never felt the need to hide any aspect of himself. According to him, people who live secret lives often do so out of fear, a feeling he says has never guided his choices.

The outspoken singer insists he would not hesitate to publicly admit the rumors about his sexuality if they were true. “If I were gay, I would shout it from the rooftops. I wouldn’t hide who I am. I would give my soul.” he said.

Charlie Boy further explains that his lifestyle is like being in a public market where everything is visible. He said he prided himself on being an open book and believed dishonesty stemmed from a lack of courage to live authentically.

“I can’t lie about anything because liars are people who don’t have the courage to live a real life. I’ve been living a real life for years, so I won’t send anyone,” he added.

Charlie Boy has been one of Nigeria’s most controversial and discussed entertainers for decades. His bold fashion choices, unconventional stage presence and fearless activism have always set him apart.

While his quirky persona and outspoken personality continue to spark curiosity about his personal life, the veteran entertainer insists he has always been genuine and has no intention of changing that now.
