    • Joy William, a Nigerian nurse living in the United States who said she earns as much for two hours as a Nigerian doctor per month, urged professionals to pursue development opportunities, noting that location often affects financial returns.

Joy William, a Nigerian registered nurse living in the United States, has caused an uproar online after claiming that she earns as much in two hours as a Nigerian doctor does in a month.

She shared this statement on X on Monday, February 16, 2026 while addressing Nigerian doctors who she said “look down on nurses”.

“For those Nigerian doctors who look down on nurses, they know that in just 2 hours as a registered nurse I can earn what a Nigerian doctor earns in a month,“she wrote.

She added, “This letter is not long, just a reminder that sometimes your destiny is closely related to where you are. Same effort. Same wisdom. Completely different rewards.”

She said professionals are encouraged to seek better opportunities, “If life gives you an opportunity to grow, relocate, or upgrade…take it. Comfort zones rarely change bank accounts.”

She concluded by thanking Nigeria’s workers, saying: “Respect every professional grind in your hometown, but never apologize for choosing a life that allows you to grow.”

In other news… Some members of the House of Representatives went on strike in protest after a motion was tabled to repeal the passage of the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.

A heated argument broke out when the chairman of the House Rules and Commerce Committee proposed overturning the bill, which originally passed on Dec. 23, 2025.

Speaker Tajuddin Abbas gave the motion a voice vote. Although the “no” voice was louder than the “yes” voice, the speaker ruled in favor of the yes, triggering protests from several lawmakers.

Attempts to resolve the issue through executive session failed and lawmakers continued to oppose it, particularly section 60(3), which makes the electronic transmission of results mandatory.

The aggrieved members stopped Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu from continuing the proceedings and eventually left the plenary session, shouting “APC Ole” (“APC thief”) as they left.
