He spoke when delivering the keynote address as guest speaker at the University of Nexford’s fourth graduation ceremony.
Obi stressed that Nigeria is at the mercy of corrupt government officials.
“With governance, don’t think that when we talk about vice, we’re just talking about Yahoo boys,” he said.
“There are actually more yahoos in government than there are outside because we’ve turned the entire country into a crime scene where people on the inside are stealing and people on the outside are stealing.”
Obi stressed the need for quality leadership to manage Nigeria’s affairs.
“It’s about leadership and igniting the future. It’s not rocket science, but it’s hard.
“It’s the ability to have a strong character — the ability not to do the wrong thing,” he added.
