…means it has nothing to do with HND admissions

    Author: Joseph Elenke, Abuja

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Council wishes to clarify its position on recent allegations made by some HND graduates who wrongly condemned JAMB for being unable to participate in the mandatory one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). It is important to emphasize that JAMB has no involvement, authority or control over the admission process of HND candidates.

“The candidates claimed that they were attending HND full-time but were not mobilized as they were attending OND part-time. How on earth does this have anything to do with JAMB when Section 5(2) of the law establishing JAMB provides for this.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Board shall be responsible for determining the admission requirements and conducting examinations for undergraduate admissions, as well as admissions to National Diploma and Nigerian Certificate of Education programmes. However, the Board shall not be responsible for examinations or any other selection for postgraduate courses or any other courses offered by higher education institutions. program.

“It has been reported that most of the students are admitted to their institutions for National Diploma (ND) without the knowledge of the Board. With this, the Board has graciously condoned and approved admission to the said ND scheme which is the norm with such candidates The only relationship.

“Whether they were subsequently admitted to HND is unknown and irrelevant to the board’s mandate. Therefore, it is absurd to accuse the board of not having the authority to deal with the issue.

“Some of these candidates have crossed criminal lines and the committee will soon address this appropriately.

“The public is urged to disregard the allegations against the Commission as it has no mandate on such matters.”
