Opay is rapidly growing in popularity in Nigeria due to its user-friendly interface and the convenience it provides users. One of OPAY’s key features is its Opay Verve card, which allows users to pay for goods and services.
What is the Opay Verve card?
The Opay Verve card is a debit card issued by Opay. They are linked to your Opay wallet and allow you to pay for goods and services directly from your wallet balance and are accepted anywhere such as POS terminals, ATMs, supermarkets, restaurants, eateries, gas stations and online stores.
Can I use Opay card for Facebook ads in Nigeria?
Unfortunately, Facebook does not currently accept Opay Verve cards as a form of payment for ads in Nigeria. Despite Opay’s popularity, Facebook’s payment system did not recognize the Opay Verve card at the time of this blog post.
Why can’t I use my Opay Verve card to pay for Facebook ads in Nigeria?
The main reason why Opay Verve card is not accepted for Facebook ad payments is due to its restrictions in international transactions. Facebook ads require a payment method that supports international payments, which is currently not possible with Opay Verve Card.
Facebook operates primarily in US dollars, while the Opay Verve card is denominated in Naira. This currency mismatch poses significant challenges.
There was a time when Facebook allowed Nigerian advertisers to pay for Facebook ads using bank transfers and accepted Verve cards through Payu Nigeria, but that Facebook ad payment option has been suspended.
Alternative Facebook Ad Payment Methods for Nigerian Advertisers
If you are unable to use your Opay Verve card to pay for Facebook ads in Nigeria, consider the following alternatives:
1. Apply for a USD card from your bank
If you don’t have a USD card (MasterCard or Visa) yet, apply for one from your bank. This will enable you to pay for Facebook ads directly.
2. Use a virtual dollar card Pay for Facebook Ads
Sign up with a Virtual Dollar card provider, fund your card, and use it to pay for Facebook ads.
3. Mastercard, Visa Naira payment via PAYU payments
If you have a NAIRA Mastercard or Naira Visa Debit Card (also known as an ATM card), you can use it to fund your Facebook Naira Ads account balance to pay for Facebook ads through Payu Nigeria Facebook Paysway.
4. Bank transfer payment via OPAY account
In some Facebook ad accounts, the bank transfer option is enabled as a payment method. If enabled, you can use this option to pay for your Facebook sponsored ads by making a bank transfer from your OPAY account.
