An armed robber has been arrested while trying to steal a woman in Ogun State.
Residents of Iyana-Iyasi community in the Ota region of the state caught the armed robber red-handed and recovered a locally made pistol and a Tecno mobile phone from his possession.
They handed him over to the authorities.
Spokesperson of the state police command, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed this, said: “At about 6:30 am, one Tunde Adebanjo was arrested by members of the community while robbing Mrs. Babalola Rachel .
“After his arrest, the suspect was found to be carrying a locally made small-sized pistol and a Tecno mobile phone. Investigation confirmed that the Tecno mobile phone recovered belonged to the victim.
Odutola revealed that the suspect admitted during interrogation that he was a robber.
The case has been handed over to the National Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Service for further action.
