Former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi asserted that former President Olu Segun Obasanjo was the last leader of the booming middle class in Nigeria. Maintain a stable economic bridge between the rich and the poor.

Amaechi This statement was issued in the two -day event held in Abuja, the theme was “Strengthen Nigeria’s democracy: the way lead to good politics and political integrityEssence “

The activity was organized by several governance and democratic institutions, which brought together major stakeholders to study Nigeria’s political and economic pattern.

When it comes to “the impact of democracy on the national economy”, Amaci emphasized the depth of economic inequality in Nigeria.

He lamented that the country is now running a “two -level system”. In the system, individuals are either very rich or struggling in poverty, and there is no middle class to balance the gap.

“Our last time the middle class was under the leadership of President Olusegun Obasanjo. He created an economy of creating employment opportunities. Even if some people think that this is a crumbling middle class that disappears at the end of the month when the salary pays pay, at least we have a middle class.

“Now, either a rich person or poverty. If you implement social housing and investment in agriculture together with the withdrawal of subsidies, people will not feel as severe as they are now,” Amali said.

He further criticized the economic policy that failed to alleviate the cancellation of subsidies. He emphasized that social housing and agricultural investment may reduce the economic difficulties faced by many Nigerians.
