Western Lagos legislators prevented GAC from returning to OBASA as speaker.

Nigerian News Nalin It is reported that the Governor Consultant Committee (GAC) of all the Progressive Conferences (APCs) of Lagos (GAC) convened an emergency meeting with members of the Lagos Parliament Building on Monday to resolve the sustainable leadership crisis.

The crisis began with former spokesman Mudashiru Obasa and was dismissed during the absence of January 13, 2025. Of the 40 members of the 40 members, 32 of them were dismissed due to financial misleading, improper behavior and allegations of masters. His predecessor Mojisola Lasbat Merata replaced him as a physical speaker. This triggered a contradiction between members of GAC, party, and the public.

After OBASA’s dismissal, the division of GAC deepened.

The crucial meeting began at noon and was held at the Lagos House in Marina. It was chaired by GAC’s head Pa TAJUDEEN Olusi (the highest decision -making agency of the Ragos APC).

GAC held a similar meeting at the same place two weeks ago to discuss the development of the state parliament.

At a few hours of meetings, GAC members and parliament members participated extensively. Despite opposition, they still provided overwhelming support for MERANDA’s continued leadership.

The key issue of the discussion is that the leaders of the conference need regional balance. With the current governor and the newly -elected spokesman come from the central area of Ragos, some GAC members advocate cutting the speaker to western Lagos. However, the proposal was not attractive.

Members from Lagos West formed about 20 members, resolutely supported MERANDA, rejected GAC’s proposal, and effectively consolidated her status as the Speaker.

According to the party, Obasa likes the support of influential members of the Tinubu family and core groups, and they have been forcing GAC to take action.

Nevertheless, MERANDA still retains her position as a speaker, prompting legislators and parliamentary staff to rejoicing.

“With the failure of the speaker, try to replace MARANDA’s attempts. Discussion is mainly concentrated in the leaders of balance Senate.” A source revealed.
