
Akwa Ibom’s High Court sentenced Professor Ignatius Uduk of Uyo University (UNIUYO) to three years in prison during the 2019 general election.
Professor of Human Dynamics UDUK served as a collation/return official for the Essien Udim state constituency in March 2019. He has been at trial in three charges of announcing false results, publishing false results and perjury.
Justice Bassey Nkanang, the trial judge, convicted him on first and second and third charges. Therefore, he sentenced him to three years in two counts.
Under Mike Igini, INEC serves as Resident Election Commissioner (REC) AKWA IBOM State, his prosecution against UDUK is open to three revised rulings to abandon duties, publish/announce forgery of election results scores and lie on Oath.
While another professor Uniuyo, Peter Ogban, who was also sued by INEC in similar circumstances, was convicted and sentenced to three years in prison, Professor UDUK’s trial defendant repeatedly adjourned, resulting in a change in the judge at the trial Judgment. .
In three charges filed by INEC, Justice Bassey Nkanang of UYO High Court 5 convicted UDUK on 1, but was convicted on 2 and 3 counts and sentenced him to three years in prison. The judgment will be made at the same time.
The judgment marks the end of the five-year legal battle against election fraud in the 2019 general election in Akwa Ibom.
