Benus State Police Command has arrested a Teryima Yaji for allegedly organizing the kidnapping of his uncle, Emmanuel Yaji of the Mbaduku family in the Vandeikya local government area of the state.
Yaji was arrested along with a local doctor, Terna Sule, who allegedly prepared the kidnappers with charm to strengthen their actions.
Catherine Anene, a state police command public relations officer, revealed this, explaining that the kidnapping involving the victim took place on December 30, 2024.
She mentioned that the police investigation led to the rescue of the victims, while police agents arrested Teryima and Terna Sule, which was related to the incident, and guns were also found in the process.
PPRO added that Benue State Command Commissioner CP Steve Yabanet ordered a detailed investigation into the case.
She revealed that some gang members have been arrested, including relatives of the victim and the kidnapping mastermind Teryima, who admitted that they had planned to make more money from his relatives.
Anene said the two suspects will be prosecuted immediately once the investigation is completed.
