Among the troops of the Nigerian army is Kingpin, Kachalla Na Faranshi, in a counter-insurgency operation in the Zurmi local government area of Zamfara state, his dozens of fighters along with dozens of his fighters.
The successful raid is part of Operation Fansan Yamma, disclosed by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama and in a post on Friday on X (formerly Twitter).
According to intelligence sources spoken with Makama, Na Faranshi, originally from Shirgi village in Maladi, Niger Republic, was a key figure in weapons smuggling and organized crime in the northwest Nigeria region.
“He is known for smuggling illegal guns from Mali and Niger, providing weapons to various armed groups operating in the forests of Northwest Nigeria,” Marcama revealed.
Security sources confirmed that the killed terrorist leader has close ties to the radical faction in Mali, formerly an ally of another infamous terrorist, Bello Turji. However, he later went bankrupt to build his criminal network.
The killing of Na Faranshi marks another major victory for Nigerian security forces in their battle against theft and cross-border terrorism.
Nigerian military has worked with other security agencies to intensify the crackdown on terrorist hiding places, especially in the forests of Zamfara, Katsina and Sokoto State where criminals operate.
The success of this operation demonstrates the military’s continued commitment to restoring peace and security in the Northwest region, which is plagued by armed violence and mass abductions.
