As many media reports, the president has reiterated that the House has not proposed the creation of 31 New South Wales.

According to the committee, the proposals include 5 from the central central region, 4 from the northeast, 5 from the northwest, 5 from the southeast, 4 from the south south and 7 from the southwest.
The proposal has since aroused anger among many Nigerians and political elites.
But in a post by X, the senior special assistant to the president, Temitope Ajaiyi clarified that the House has only made numerous proposals public to create more states that the state gets from various interests and lobbying groups.
He wrote, “It’s obvious that the media has missed what happened to the House of Representatives yesterday. The House has not proposed to create 31 states.
“It is important to make it clear that the House has only disclosed the number of proposals received from more countries from various interests and hall groups.
“Reporters should do a good job in order to report the problem correctly. It is believed that many journalists covering the National Assembly have covered the parliament for more than 20 years. People hope that journalists covering the NASS should have mastered the parliamentary process.”
