Popular Nigeria Tiktoker Olumide Ogunsanwo (known as Sea King) reportedly re-arrested on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at the venue in the District Court in Ogba, Lagos State.
His latest arrest was linked to a charge of cyberbullying against Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the governor of the Redeemed Christian Church (RCCG).
Previous arrests and charges
Aquaman originally released a video in December 2024, criticizing him for criticizing President Bola Tinubu, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the police station ( Kayode Egbetokun) inspector general. He was arraigned for treason, online propaganda and conduct that could cause public obstacles.
The Magistrates Court later granted him a bail of 500,000, requiring two guarantors to be made with the same amount.
Rearrested during court appearance
Aquaman was detained again Thursday while attending his ongoing trial. He was first held at the Lagos State Police Command in Ikeja before being transferred to Abuja.
Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore confirmed the development on Friday, February 7, 2025 through a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Free expression concern
Aquaman’s re-arrest has sparked debate among human rights advocates and raised concerns about freedom of speech and the treatment of detainees. Legal proceedings are underway and further updates are expected as the case unfolds.
