The Ijaw Youth Committee (IYC) Western Region has been announced on Monday, February 10, 2024 as the start date of its proposed tour across Delta, Edo and Ondo States.
Information officer Tare Magbei, an information officer for the IYC West Region, revealed this in a public announcement Saturday.
According to Magbei, the trip is part of a plan for the human body to seek quality education in the Ijaw community.

Magbei noted that the tour will be ahead of the West IYC Western Secretariat unveiling ceremony on September 5, 2024 at the IYC Western Secretariat in Warri.

The announcement reads;
“The Ijaw Youth Council, led by Chairman Nicholas Igarama, will begin its tour of primary and secondary schools among the 24 clans in the region starting Monday, February 10, 2024 on the 10th February 2024 primary schools and secondary schools in the region show.
“This trip is a sequel to the West Ejohan Education Trust (WIETF), hosted by Council President Jonathan Lokpobiri SNR.
“This trip was to enable the IYC western region to determine the education state provided to our people by the Delta, Edo and Endo state governments.
“The Council hopes to contribute to improving the quota of educational standards in areas such as teacher employment, provision and renovation of worn-out structures, science laboratories, libraries, and special tutor teaching and nurturing ijaw languages.
“Through this notice, IYC Western Zone requires support and collaboration with key stakeholders, community leaders, public officials, NGOs, and all other relevant agencies to build strong partnerships.
“All clan structures are in this notice, encouraging ownership of the project and providing a hospitality environment for all 24 clans.”

Meanwhile, the IJAW Youth Commission (IYC) western region has appointed an independent National Election Commission (INEC) to speed up the process for demarcating Delta State University for the federal voters in Warri.
The phone was held for seven months after the election referee began a new demarcation process throughout the constituency.
