    NNPCL denies explosion at Worri refinery

    The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPC) denied the report that an explosion occurred at the Worri refinery.

    The statement from NNPC chief company communications officer Olufemi Soneye said the reports suggest that the explosion in the refinery complex was wrong.

    “NNPC Ltd. hopes to clarify that Worry Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation (WRPC) has not exploded. Any reports that suggest otherwise would be completely wrong.

    On January 25, 2025, operations in WRPC Zone 1 were intentionally restricted to conduct necessary intervention engineering on selected equipment, including on-site tools that impact sustainable and stable operations.

    “These interventions are critical to ensuring finished and intermediate products on production specifications, especially automotive oil (AGO) and kerosene (Kero).

    Routine maintenance is on schedule and Zone 1 will re-operate in the next few days. Despite ongoing interventions, the previous loadings have maintained an average of eight trucks per day over the past 11 days and provide adequate supply to maintain ongoing truck loading operations. “The statement partially reads
