
Criminal Investigation Bureau – DCI detectives from the Homicide Investigation Team are detecting an M8rder of a patient in the ward of Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) in Nairobi.
Gilbert Kinyua, 39, was brutally shot inside the ward 7B by an unknown attacker on Thursday night, February 6, 2025.
His lifeless body was found lying on the bed on Friday morning. No one knows who did it or why.
Kinyua was admitted as KNH on December 11, 2024 due to brain disorders. A few days later, his body was in the pool of blood in the hospital ward.
In the ward where Gilbert was admitted, another patient was seeking treatment for the same condition. The patient is weak and cannot explain anything that happened before and after the event.
A nurse on duty on the night of the incident told detectives she had a routine checkup in the ward at 3 a.m. Thursday and everything was fine.
On Friday morning, when she returned to the ward where Gilbert was, she found his lifeless body lying on the bed, his neck and blood scattered throughout the place.
Detectives from the Homicide Investigation Bureau were notified.
Upon arrival, the detective threw a window near the place where Gilbert was killed to the bottom floor, and the detective recovered a bloody kitchen knife. They are seeking answers about the murders.
Detectives tried to rebuild at the crime scene as they retrieved CCTV footage from the area around the ward.
Patients in the neighboring wards, as well as the hospital’s management and the family of the deceased were interrogated.
Kenyatta National Hospital said in a statement that the tragic death of a patient at the facility made it sad.
As part of the investigation, the statement details the facility is working with law enforcement and has since launched an internal investigation to determine the facts surrounding the incident.
“We are very sad to confirm the incident involving the tragic death of a patient in Kenyatta National Hospital. Our thoughts and prayers are with the patients’ families during this difficult time. The statement said: “The hospital is working closely with law enforcement, An internal investigation was then conducted to determine the facts of the incident. ”
