The Nasarawa state commander of the Nigerian police force has detained John Gambo, a student from the Federal Institute of Technology of Nasarawa, in connection with a fatal stabbing of a classmate.
Commander’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nanselverified the arrest in a statement issued on Sunday in the state capital Rafia.
Nansel reported that the arrest was caused by a complaint from local resident Mercy-Bassey, who had a violent confrontation between her two tenants.
Upon arriving at the scene, detectives found Ibrahim Matthew, a part-time ND2 computer science student, lying in a pool of blood.
The spokesman said the victim was taken to the general hospital in the town of Nasalawa but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving.
The suspect is said to be a National Diploma (ND) II from the Department of Students of Banking and Finance, and was quickly arrested and allegedly admitted to be beating the victim with an axe and a knife.
PPRO said Police Commissioner Shettima Jauro Mohammed directed that the case should be forwarded to the state criminal investigation department in Rafia for further inquiry and legal proceedings.
