Former Nigerian Idol Champion K-Peace has publicly called on the organizers of the reality show for allegedly failing to offer the promised N7.5 million cash prize and a brand new car, despite announcing on national television that he has received them.
In an exclusive interview, K-Peace shared his struggles after winning the championship. He revealed that he did not win the grand prize, but was trapped in Lagos where there was no Naira in his account, often without food.
According to him, every time he asked about money and cars, organizers would postpone their response, repeatedly telling him they were “working.”
“In my account, I came out of the Nigerian Idol Platform. I attended the interview with empty stomach and walked around Lagos without food in my stomach,” he sighed.
He further revealed at the so-called grand prize:
“They announced the 7.5 million N award, but over time I’ve been asking when to attribute the money to when I get the car. They keep pushing it forward.”
“They claim they are still branding the car. Meanwhile, they announced on state television that I won 77.5 million in N7.5 million, a car and a two-week trip to Dubai, but I’m going through hell.”
Social Media Response
K-Peace’s revelation sparked outcry, with many expressing concerns about the so-called inadequate transparency in the so-called Nigerian reality show:
@eddyid8: “I wonder why they didn’t keep their promises. I remember a girl complaining after leaving BBN, but I don’t even remember her name.”
@jaiyejeyomo: “This is the case for most reality shows in Nigeria. False and fake! More ways to launder money. Happy Sunday, those who don’t know how things in Nigeria work.”
@iammista_jay: “I keep saying that some of these competitions put the contestants under unnecessary pressure. The pressure to succeed and maintain an unaffordable celebrity identity. Fame brings a price, but you shouldn’t be the price you pay for it.”
@reeham440: “BBN is actually doing the same thing. Everyone in this country is a liar.”
@shaydee59559361: “Let the una not blame them, Nigeria us. The crocodile may have swallowed the money.”
