
A 26-year-old mother, Rachael, narrates how she sold her two-week-old baby for N600,000 because she couldn’t cater to the child.
The baby was reportedly sold to a 42-year-old woman who tried to adopt the child, but the child’s mother gave only N600,000 to the agent.
Rachael is a resident of Asaba, Delta, and is paraded at the State Police Command by Commander Bright Edafe’s police public relations officer with two other accomplices.
She said she was the mother of another boy and she had to give a baby girl two weeks old because she found it difficult to take care of the two children.
The father of the two-week-old baby denied the baby’s father, she said she was born on January 27, 2025.
“I sent the baby away because I was the only one who cared for the child,” Rachel said.

Regarding how she copes during her pregnancy, she said: “I take care of myself, I struggle, I’m going to go to people’s courtyards to clean and do some other trivial matters.”
She said she was introduced to a woman who asked for help because she was not financially fit in with her two children.
Rachel said: “The woman gave me N600,000 and said I should reconcile her, and I gave her N30,000.”
Meanwhile, the woman, who has not yet disclosed her identity, said she sold the child for 3.5 million guilds and admitted that she gave her mother N.6 million.
She said the child’s mother told her that she wanted to start a business with the money.
The 42-year-old woman who tried to adopt the child said she paid 4 million.
According to her, she was assured that the documents to adopt the child were being processed and that the adoption process was legal.
